Flora and Fauna in the Rainforest

save a treeSave A Tree's protected Rainforest is called a lowland wetforest. The area consists of canopy trees with their broad crowns and majestic height; some reach 200 feet. Shorter trees (sub-canopy trees with round crowns) gird the taller ones. The two tree groups form a double canopy forest. The forest floor itself boasts 1900 species. So, this forest with its trees and flora/fauna floor is home to 110 species of mammals, 400 bird species, 75 species of lizards and snakes, and 500 varieties of butterflies. Obviously, harvesting any trees from such an area has a profound ecological impact on the habitat host to so many animals, birds, and insects.

costa ricaSome of the forest dwellers easy to spot include the poison arrow and poison dart frogs, Green Parrots, Toucans, Montezuma's Orpendola, the Howler and White-faced Monkeys, Tree Sloths, and a wide variety of river and forest birds. Sightings of Manatees and crocodiles in the river are common. Some of the less often seen species include the Scarlet and Green Macaws, Deer, Peccary, and spotted cats such as the Jaguar and Ocelot.

To have said that the Rainforest abounds in beauty and serenity is to beg the reality. Only a visit to the Rainforest you help to procure and protect by your donations will do justice to the truth: this Rainforest is meant to be experienced and enjoyed.
